SASQUATCH & SUNFLOWERS: 5 STEPS TO CREATING A MEMORABLE HARRISON HOT SPRINGS STAYCATION

In truth, I should probably call this little getaway a wor-cation. I recently read a story on how the pandemic is depleting our surge-capacity, that boost of energy that helps us get through brief, tough moments. It turns out this depletion can also affect the energy that comes right before we take time-off, the drive that allows us to get everything done, so we don’t have to do it while on a break.

BIGFOOT EMERGES IN B.C.’S HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

Red foxes have been spotted wandering the city streets of Ashkelon, Israel, a young puma has been seen roaming the roads of Santiago, Chile, and wild turkeys have been caught strutting through Montreal’s East End. With the world hunkering down at home to slow the spread of COVID-19, wildlife is emerging in unexpected places around the globe, and in the small B.C. town of Harrison Hot Springs, things are getting a little wilder as well.

HAIRY-SON, I’M HOME: SASQUATCH RETURNS TO ITS HOMETOWN

When the visitors are away, the Sasquatch will play. So many native animals are returning to their natural habitats as coronavirus cleared the streets and scenery of popular tourist destinations across the world, and Harrison Hot Springs is no exception. Photos recently surfaced of the legendary Sasquatch, on a holiday of its own, frolicking near Harrison Lake.

SASQUATCH SHOWS UP AT HARRISON BEACH HOTEL

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS, B.C. — The current global pandemic keeping people much closer to home, the world is witnessing a resurgence of animals rewilding our cities and towns. Much like the dolphins returning to Venetian canals and wild boars wandering the streets of Italy’s towns, so too has the legendary Sasquatch returned to its natural habitat in British Columbia’s Village of Harrison Hot Springs.

LEARN HOW THE ELUSIVE SASQUATCH HAS BECOME A REWILDING SUCCESS STORY DURING LOCKDOWN

At one hotel in Canada’s British Columbia, the staff, now reduced down just to essential workers, have began to document the return of one such creature. Except this one is a little more fantastical than a Welsh goat or a Spanish peacock. At the Harrison Beach Hotel, part of the True Key Hotels & Resorts group, who manage eight resorts across Western Canada, they have seen the return of the elusive Sasquatch!

ROMANTIC GETAWAY FROM VANCOUVER TO HARRISON HOT SPRINGS IN AUTUMN

My wife and I had the most amazing holiday at Harrison Hot Springs. We left Vancouver and spent two days at the lake surrounded by eagles and fall colours. We went mid-week, which made it an especially relaxing experience, and stayed at the Harrison Beach Hotel. On our trip we saw wildlife, enjoyed the hot springs and went for walks in nature. It was wonderful! What a great getaway, and so close to Vancouver!

ROMANTIC RENDEZVOUS IN HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

Ditching the kids and running away for a romantic rendezvous in Harrison Hot Springs is easily one of my favourite things to do with my husband. Sneaking away to one of the most stunning locations just a short 2 hrs away from Vancouver is definitely our idea of a good time. The scenic Highway 7 provides a link between Vancouver and Hope that is off-the-beaten-path.  The prairie girl in me can never get enough of the beautiful scenery in this area.

LONG WEEKEND, LOW SEASON GETAWAYS

Although Labor Day is considered the last great weekend of summer, it’s not the last great weekend to getaway. Sure, you can dream of far-flung places but B.C. has plenty of quickie getaways (you can drive and ferry to) that go the distance. Think low season to save big bucks. Weekend rates can be up to 30 percent lower.

FUN THINGS TO DO IN HARRISON HOT SPRINGS, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Having spent my youth in the Fraser Valley I have lots of memories of summer days spent building sandcastles and swimming in Harrison Lake. Returning now, as an adult, I can see why I loved it so much as a kid. However, I was pleased to find there are also many things to do in Harrison Hot Springs for adults and couples.
